Semtech Announces New High Speed, Quad Channel ECL Delay LineDevice Ideally Suited for Channel Deskew in High Speed Camarillo, California - May 09, 2002 Semtech Corp. (Nasdaq: SMTC), a leading supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors for communications, computers, and industrial equipment, today announced availability of its latest high speed, quad channel, ECL delay line and deskew element, the E728. The E728 is designed for use in automated test equipment (ATE) and for other test and measurement instrumentation, such as pulse generators, oscilloscopes and memory testers. The new device is offered in 10mm x 10mm, 44-pin MQFP and PLCC packages, both of which incorporate internal heat spreaders for optimized cooling. The E728 operates up to 250 MHz and provides a full-scale delay range of at least 8.0 ns with independent ±750 ps adjustment of the falling edge. The product offers extremely accurate signal timing delays, a necessity when testing high speed memory devices. The E728 also provides a broad delay range that allows designers to synchronize, or deskew, timing signals across a wide signal skew range. For application-specific versatility, the product also incorporates separate voltage controlled inputs, which allow for independent programming of the timing delay and pulse width parameters. The E728 deskew element is designed specifically to be monotonic and is highly temperature stable while delaying a very narrow pulse over a wide delay range. This simplifies calibration and ensures a high level of test equipment accuracy. If required, the analog delay inputs can also be utilized to compensate for other non-temperature stable devices in the signal chain. There is also a drive mode for routing one input signal to all of the system outputs, a feature particularly useful in signal fanout applications.
