Semtech Announces Qualification of First JANS Family

Semtech's Parts and Commitment to the Power Discrete Market Have Cleared the Way for Certification to MIL-PRF-19500's Highest Quality Level for Space Sector Customers

Camarillo, California - March 18, 2008

Semtech Corp. (Nasdaq: SMTC), a leading supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, today announced the Defense Supply Center Columbus, (DSCC) has qualified its power discrete family listed under performance specification sheet /420K. This is the highest level of quality under MIL-PRF-19500 and qualifies the parts for use in military and commercial space applications.

The qualification covers rectifiers specified as JANS1N5550 - 1N5554.  The parts are produced in Semtech’s JANS certified Power Discretes and Assembly (PDA) Group facility located in Reynosa, Mexico. All qualified products will be listed in Qualified Products Database (QPD -19500) formerly Qualified Manufacturers List (QML) 19500.
“This certification is the first of a series of specification sheets that we are submitting to DSCC for JANS approval on key products that will benefit commercial and military space customers,” said Jose Vargas, Vice President, Power Discretes Business for Semtech. The Reynosa facility has been producing high-voltage military and commercial power discrete products since 1990. Besides the Manufacturer Certification MIL-PRF-19500, Semiconductor Devices, this Semtech facility is also certified to ISO 9001:2000 with AS9100:2004 Rev B.
