Semtech Qualifies JANS TVS Platform For Aerospace and Satellite Applications

Defense Supply Center Columbus Certifies Semtech Protection Products to MIL-PRF-19500N

Camarillo, California - February 17, 2010

Semtech Corp. (Nasdaq: SMTC), a leading supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, today announced the Defense Supply Center Columbus, (DSCC) has qualified Semtech’s transient voltage suppressor platform as meeting performance specification sheet MIL-PRF- 19500/516, Revision D to JANS level. This qualifies the parts for use in aerospace and satellite applications.

The qualification covers TVS devices specified as JANS1N6102(A) - JANS1N6173(A) including the surface-mount (US) variants. This TVS platform is designed to protect military, aerospace and commercial/industrial electronic equipment from over voltages caused by lightning, electrostatic discharge (ESD), electrical fast transients (EFT), inductive load switching, and EMP.
These devices are constructed using two p-n junction TVS diodes in a back-to-back configuration, hermetically sealed in a voidless glass package. The hermetically sealed package provides high reliability in harsh environmental conditions. TVS diodes are further characterized by their high surge capability, low operating and clamping voltages, and a theoretically instantaneous response time. This makes them ideal for use as board level protection for sensitive semiconductor components.

The parts are produced in Semtech’s JANS certified facility located in Reynosa, Mexico. All qualified products will be listed in Qualified Products Database (QPD -19500) formerly Qualified Manufacturers List (QML) 19500.

The Reynosa facility has been producing high-voltage military and commercial/industrial power discrete products since 1990. Besides the Manufacturer Certification MIL-PRF-19500, Semiconductor Devices, this Semtech facility is also certified to ISO 9001:2000 with AS9100:2004 Rev B.
